Help the Environment - and Your SWCD at the Same Time.....

The Warrick County SWCD has been sponsoring an ink cartridge recycling program for some time now that can help the environment and at the same time help to raise funds for its local conservation programs.  And now, we are accepting retired cell phones for recycling.

With so many people now using computers and printers, both for home and business, a lot of used ink cartridges (InkJet, DeskJet, BubbleJet, LaserJet, and fax machine cartridges) end up in our landfills.  It is also estimated that in the United States alone, over 100 million cell phones will be retired or discarded this year.

With the SWCD's recycling program, these items can be kept out of our landfills, helping the environment and at the same time generate funds for the conservation program in Warrick County.

The SWCD has placed several displays and recycling bags in various businesses around the County for use by those who are environmentally conscious and wish to make good use of these no-longer-needed items. Simply take a bag for each used cartridge, enclose them in their original packaging (if available), or the packaging from replacements in the postage-paid bags, and drop them in the mail.

Cell phones may be mailed in the same bags (please - no accessories such as leather cases, clips, chargers, or user manuals).  Just place one phone in each postage-paid envelope, press it sealed, and drop in the mail.  The SWCD will receive $1 for each cartridge and cell phone recycled.

The bags can be picked up at libraries, stores, banks, city hall, and at the SWCD office.  For your convenience, you can request that bags be sent to you to keep on hand.  This program is totally
FREE - no charge to you, the SWCD, or the local businesses who distribute the bags. Call or e-mail the SWCD office to request bags or with any questions you may have about the program. You can make a difference and it couldn't be simpler!
